Black on Black Violence Essay

Dark on dark viciousness has been on the ascent in the ongoing years. 1 of every 146 dark guys are in danger of savage demise, while the proportion for white men is 1 out of 189. I don't get our meaning by â€Å"Black on Black wrongdoing? † It might be depicted as whenever a Black individual perpetrates brutal mischief on another Black individual. The impacts of this brutality operating at a profit network are colossal. Brutality is a lot of part of being Black in America. Another issue in America is putting an inappropriate people waiting for capital punishment. More often than not it is simply to a liable decision so the prosecutor’s family can proceed onward. This is actually what occurred on account of Walter McMillian who was blamed and seen as blameworthy for killing a Ronda Morrison by discharge. In this entry I will clarify a portion of the dark on dark brutality found in America, talk about a portion of the selections from Les Payne and Glenn Loury’s contention, and clarify McMillians preliminary in addition to the racial disparity he encountered. Jesse Jackson once said so as to have a more secure living condition you â€Å"must get the firearms off the streets†. It was said that in LA County that African-Americans have a 1/29 possibility of being killed while whites are just a 1/186 possibility. So why are blacks at such a more serious hazard than whites? One clarification can be the dark on dark brutality that is happening in our general public today. Of the brutality that blacks do utilize it has been accounted for that 94% of it is utilized on other dark people groups. From the get-go in life is the place the children admire their companions and need to do what they do and act how they act. What's more, this sole factor is the explanation the viciousness in networks is on the ascent. The good examples in these youthful dark kids’ lives are frequently street pharmacists or pack individuals and this can be alluring to the adolescent. They see all the material things these vendors and group individuals have and they need it as well. However, what these youngsters don't comprehend is the implies that these more established good examples get these products. A lady named Mary Ross is an individual from LA County and she said you need to battle so as to make it in these less fortunate neighborhoods. She said that she went after a position thus did a white lady. Mary guarantees that the white young lady landed the position in view of the shade of her skin and not the abilities she would bring to the activity. So she feels the best way to carry on with her life is by taking and burglarizing from others. At the point when she fights Mary says she won't stop until she sees a great deal of blood. Flows TV additionally talked with her significant other Anthony Carter. He says that there is outrage on the boulevards that prompts this savagery and that there is an absence of chance and explicit segregation on the community’s part. By far most of the individuals living in poor neighborhoods are decent residents but since of where they live they are sucked into the viciousness. Frankie Lee Randolph, a multi year old, was one of these decent residents who was trapped in the cross fire of a fierce dark network. He was in the administration, had a great job and a decent family yet one day he was simply wounded to death for no evident explanation. These families who do comply with the law need police security however not the police ruthlessness they see frequently. Being poor and having low confidence could prompt a great deal of the savagery and outrage in those networks. It appears the higher up you are in the public arena the more educated choices you make. The individuals in less fortunate dark networks feel as though their lives are being assaulted so they need weapons for assurance. They are encircled by brutality so you should be set up for the unforeseen. The individuals of these areas feel as though they have to make a move before the activity comes at them. At that point and at exactly that point do they sense that they are in charge. Encountering viciousness improves the probability that an individual will utilize savagery against another person later. So viciousness in the network resembles a snowball moving down a slope in a torrential slide, getting bigger as it comes, clearing up increasingly more in its way. Brutality is a self-propagating issue. Next, the Currents TV exchanged into a meeting with Glenn Loury and Les Payne. Loury raised the issue of blacks picking their own predeterminations while Payne raised the issue of a clairvoyant destruction. Loury said that blacks can teach themselves and improve their own lives; it was their moral duty. He says we have to give them the methods yet additionally lead them down the correct way. There is more weight on ensuring most of the honest residents and more exertion to support the vicious minority. Loury then proceeds to state that conduct and home life lead to this savagery and individuals settle on their own decisions, regardless of whether they be positive or negative ones. He fundamentally summarizes his contentions by expressing the dark networks need to propel their own advantages and to start thinking responsibly and deal with yourself and who you deal with. Les Payne started his contention by disclosing to us that dark are caused to feel mediocre compared to the white race; what he calls a clairvoyant massacre. How are these children going to get taught? That is an American issue. It is an open issue for this nation. There isn’t any alternate way to it. There’s no simple response to it. Payne states that dark life is turning out to be degraded and there is an exceptionally scarcely discernible difference from the individuals who are fruitful and the individuals who are most certainly not. He at that point says that medications are pulverizing the network when they are being acquired. Medications lead to brutality, doubt inside the network, and an absence of oversight in the city. It’s got the chance to manage the laws, the establishments that impact our kin. We need to discuss it as an American people group. At last, I will address the case including Walter McMillian. It was claimed that McMillian went into a cleaners and looted and killed the representative there, multi year old Ronda Morrison. McMillian says he was at home doing a fish fry that day. The capture came following seven months where police had no leads at all until Ralph Myers, a white man with a long criminal record, approached. He was captured for the homicide of another young lady in Alabama. Meyers was cross examined about Ronda Morrison’s murder and in the long run expressed that Walter McMillian, a 46-year-old dark man from Monroe County, had slaughtered Ronda. Two other saw certified pieces of Myerss story. Meyers depicted the manner in which the body was situated and as far as anyone knows gave solid insights concerning the location of the wrongdoing. In any case, agents said that his declaration wasn't right and that the body was never moved on the grounds that there was a particular residue on the floor that was undisturbed. There were no fingerprints, ballistics, and no physical proof at all. Meyers expressed that he drove McMillian’s truck to the store and afterward started hearing popping sounds from inside. Meyers at that point headed inside and saw McMillian over the body with cash in his grasp. The state required a corroborator for Meyers’ explanation to hold up by law. Bill Hooks was this man. He said he drove by and saw McMillian get in traveler side at cleaners with Meyers as driver. Snares realized it was his truck since his truck had been brought down. McMillian said it couldn't have been his since he got his truck brought down a half year after the homicide occurred. Furthermore McMillian and a companion both said that it couldn't have been his since his truck had no transmission in it, so it was not by any means ready to begin. Guard legal advisors said that Hooks got help from the cops for the implicating explanation. This help included getting discharged from prison, having his charges dropped, and $5,000. Close to the finish of the preliminary investigators raised the issue of McMillian â€Å"running around† with a white lady. McMillian was condemned to death row for a long time before being discharged after reality became known. There were numerous issues of bigotry and disparity during the examination and preliminary. First was the bogus explanation given by the three observers. Investigators revealed to him his declaration would give him a decreased sentence. DA Chapman prosecuted Meyer’s dependent on prevarication where he gave a bogus explanation while being in promise. Witnesses who had affirmed against McMillian conceded that they had submitted prevarication. Next there was the way that there was no proof that would implicate McMillian by any stretch of the imagination. No physical proof, no fingerprints, and no ballistic reports. Maybe the court simply needed to discover somebody to put the fault. The sum total of what they had was the declaration of three people. As a general rule this would not be sufficient for a preliminary, but since of the suggestions, murder of white lady and asserted executing of a dark man, it was sufficient for Alabama courts to attempt. McMillian later said that he was indicted in light of the fact that he was with a white lady and in light of the fact that his child likewise wedded a white lady. Also, it turned out to be certain that the arraignment had shrouded exculpatory proof, including the presence of an observer who had seen the casualty alive after the time at which the indictment battled the wrongdoing had happened. The protection asked that the preliminary be moved from Monroe County in light of all the exposure encompassing the case. The appointed authority consented to move the preliminary from Monroe County to Baldwin County, which had a significantly littler level of dark individuals in its populace. There was likewise the way that the jury in the preliminary suggested a lifelong incarceration for McMillian however the appointed authority overruled this proposal and condemned him to death. McMillan said he never questioned his honesty would become visible, yet when asked whether he has confidence in the equity framework, he reacted: â€Å"No. Not in the least. â€Å"

The Most Important Metrics Used by Successful Bloggers

The Most Important Metrics Used by Successful Bloggers We often hear or read the phrase “blog metrics” being thrown around. The concept sounds so complicated that not everyone bothers to look deeper and fully understand what it is. However, serious bloggers cannot just ignore these blog metrics, not if they want to have a successful blog. © Shutterstock | Bakhtiar ZeinIn this article, we will discuss the 7 most important metrics for building a profitable blog.BLOGGING METRICSFirst off, what do we mean by blog or blogging metrics? The term “metrics” generally refers to any method of measuring something. It is also synonymously used to refer to the results that are obtained from the method or mode of measurement applied. When we say “blogging metrics”, we are referring to the methods (and the numbers obtained from the methods) of measurement to gauge the overall performance of a blog. In simpler terms, these metrics are indicators of the success of a blog.Bloggers greatly rely on these metrics to see whether they are on the right track, or how fast (or slow) they are moving towards the direction they are aiming for. Using these metrics, they can employ strategies to move things along or to do better. For the most successful bloggers, these blog metrics are closer than best friends.More than just figures or stats , blogging metrics play a more important role in blogging. Let us try to break them down.Blog metrics provide bloggers a clearer and better understanding of how each piece of content performs.Blog metrics lets bloggers be better “acquainted” with their audience, such as what interests them and what doesn’t.Blog metrics allows bloggers to perform quality control on their blog content.Blog metrics not only give you a clear picture of your blog’s overall performance, but also a look at its growth.METRICS THAT SUCCESSFUL BLOGGERS CARE ABOUTThere are a lot of metrics that measure blog performance, and we do mean A LOT. In fact, there’s just so many of them that they can practically drown you if you try to closely monitor all of them. Some bloggers monitor all of them, while others â€" most likely the successful ones â€" only pay attention to the metrics that “matter”. Let’s face it: some blogging metrics are more important than others, so why waste your time tracking all blogging metrics when you can just pay attention to those that actually say something about your blog performance? That is another one of the differences that separate the successful bloggers from the less successful ones. In the following discussion, we will do as the successful bloggers do, and that is to take a look at the relevant and important blogging metrics.#1 Page ViewsWhen a visitor goes to your blog, it will register one page view on your home page. If they click on, say, one blog post, that is another page view. If he likes what he is seeing, his interest will be high, and he is likely to click to go to other pages on your blog. That will certainly increase the number of page views for your blog. But let us break that down further.Number of views per page â€" You may be wondering which of the posts on your blog draws the highest amount of interest. You can determine that by looking at the number of views that each page gets. A travel blog may find that its posts on budget travel tips gets more views than content that talks about luxury cruises. That will be the blogger’s cue to come up with more content that pertains to budget travel because readers are more interested in the topic. This metric will clue you in on which pages or content gets the most interest and drives the most traffic.Number of pages per visit â€" In one visit, how many pages do your visitors view? If you notice that many of them view only one or two pages, it means that they most likely do not find your content to be interesting. Alternatively, your links could be in places where your visitors’ eyes do not go. It is a sign of having a good page layout and quality content if you are able to engage your visitors long enough to check out other pages in your blog. If you are sure that your content is high quality, you should try changing the positioning of the various elements on the various pages. Improving content and layout are two of the most important ways of improving your blog’s page views per visitor.#2 VisitorsThere is a general perception among new bloggers that the higher the number of visitors to their blogs is, the more successful it is. To a certain extent, this may be true. However, it is inconclusive, since you also have to take note of the kind or quality of visitors that you blog is getting. Once you are sure that you are attracting the right visitors to your blog, you can go ahead and analyze these metrics.Unique VisitorsThis lets you know the number of unique visitors, or actual people, to your blog. You will be informed on how many are actually seeing the content you put up on your blog. In Google Analytics, this metric is now simply referred to as “Users” so don’t get confused.High numbers indicate that you are going a good job and should keep at it. Low numbers mean you need to put in more work, particularly in promoting your content and your blog as a whole. The next steps you’d take should focus on increasing awareness of your blog.New and Returning VisitorsMetrics that show a high number of new visitors have a lot to do with your efforts to promote your blog and content. If the number is low, then you have to find better ways and avenues to promote your blog.Unfortunately, most bloggers are fixated on the number of people visiting their blogs so they promote it, in the hopes of attracting new visitors. In this instance, they run the risk of ignoring those who have already visited.Visitors or readers have a tendency to return to a blog that left a very good impression on them during their first visit. They tend to develop a loyalty for this blog, so that they keep returning to check out what new content it has to offer. If metrics show a high number or percentage of returning visitors, it means one thing: the quality of your content is high and they offer value, so they keep coming back. If the percentage is low, that means you have to take another look at the content that you offer and find ways to make it more appealing and offer more value. #3 TrafficIn the past, there seemed to be a general consensus among websites and blogs that “traffic is everything”. Traffic, in this context, refers to web traffic, or the amount of data that is sent and received by visitors to a website or a blog. We could also define it as the number of visitors to a website or blog, the number of web pages that they click, and the length of time or duration that a visitor views a page on the website or blog. But do not just stick on those numbers. You have to look beneath the surface in order for those numbers to make more sense.Traffic sourcesTraffic to your blog comes from various sources, and you have to be able to identify them in order to determine which source provides the most traffic, and which sources need to be worked on even more. Some of the most common traffic sources include:Search engines. You will find that one of the most common advices given to new bloggers is to increase their bl og’s search engine visibility. That is because search engines are the biggest sources of traffic. If you manage to consistently create content that ranks you high in search engine rankings, the chances are very high that more people will visit your blog. If you notice that there are only a few people who come by your blog through search engines, then you have to reconsider your content and how you create them. Maybe you should pay more attention to the use of keywords and terms that will be more search-engine-friendly. This is where search engine optimization tools come in very handy.Through direct visits. Direct traffic involves directly typing the URL of your blog on the address bar. These could be spurred by many different things. Perhaps the visitor happened to have heard about your blog on the television, or they read about it on an article in the newspaper. It could also be that the site came up in a conversation with a friend. Maybe they visited the site in the past and the name was memorable enough to stick in their minds. There are many things that could result in direct traffic on your blog.Referrals. This is no longer a new concept. What makes it different from direct traffic is that it is generated through visitors clicking a link to your blog from another website or blog. A very important information provided by this metric is the most effective referrer. What search engines, social media networks, websites, blogs, or listings are sending traffic over your way?Image searches. Humans are visual creatures by nature. They like a picture they see, they click to find out more about it. Which is why you have to make sure to make good use of photos in your blog. Successful bloggers also pay attention on how they tag the images that they use, using descriptive image file names and choosing the keywords carefully. This is because image searches on search engines are also using these file names as basis on what to return to every visitor’s image search. Other websites or blogs. If other sites or blogs puts up a link to your blog on their page, they are considered as referrers, effectively turning them into sources of traffic. This metric will also help bloggers, especially those who are just starting out, to build relationships and start their own networks in the blogging community. They will reach out to these sites or blogs that referred them, and go from there.Social networks or platforms. People who like a content in a blog are likely to share its URL on their personal social media accounts, such as on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, or Reddit, to name a few. This will make the link to your blog visible to other people in their circles, and so they will click in order to visit your blog. That will certainly increase traffic to your blog through referrals. Low numbers in this category means you have to step up your game in the social media networks.Web directories or listings. If you list your blog in the relevant direc tories, then you are bound to expect some traffic through that channel. Business blogs, for example, make sure they are listed on YellowPages.com or Yelp.com, and visitors to that site will have more chances of stumbling on them when searching for specific services or goods.Traffic locationWhen starting your blog, you must have a target audience in mind, and you know where they are from. Take a look at where the visitors to your site are coming from. If, in the beginning, you only had one area or location in mind, you may notice that your visitors are also coming from other locations. That will make you arrange and rearrange your content creation strategy accordingly.Bounce rateYou also have to pay attention to the amount of traffic or number of visitors who click to your blog, and immediately leave right after they have arrived. It could be that your blog did not leave enough of an impression at first glance so they just clicked away.High bounce rates will urge you to rethink your blog’s layout and design, as well as the content and how you present them so that they will immediately catch one’s attention even at first glance. #4 Time on SiteIt is not enough to see how many views a page gets, or how many pages are viewed by visitors in each visit. You also have to consider the length of time or duration that is spent by the visitors on your blog. Take a look at the average time that a visitor stays in your blog.If it lasts just a few minutes, there is a chance that your content did not engage them enough. If they stayed for more than several minutes, that means they have spent a longer time reading many of the posts on your blog.#5 Inbound and Outbound LinksInbound links, also known as backlinks, are hyperlinks in another website that leads directly to your blog, while outbound links are links on your blog that will take those who click it someplace else, away from your blog. When measuring inbound links, you have to monitor the number of sites or blog that link into your blog. An example is when another site or blog liked the content on your blog and post a link on their pages, thus encouraging their audience to visit your blog. Of course, the number is not the only thing that matters. You will also be able to ascertain the quality of these sites that link back to you. Obviously, it bodes well for your blog if the inbound links come from influential or popular sites. In the case of outbound links, you might be confused. How can they help your blog if they will take them away from it? Believe it or not, outbound links are very helpful in improving your blog ranking and give it more authority. These outbound links will enable search engines to identify your blog under a specific niche. High clicks on outbound links on your blog indicates that you have inspired trust in your visitors; you “recommended” that link, so it must be worth checking out.[slideshare id=40366879doc=metricsslidesharev13i-141016141429-conversion-gate01w=640h=330 ]#6 Social interactions and Social Media MetricsIf a visitor likes what he saw or read on your blog, chances are high that he will be encouraged to interact with your blog, maybe even engage you â€" the blogger â€" in conversation. The amount of social interaction that your blog gets is also indicative of interest in your blog’s content.Comments. Some bloggers measure the success of a blog post in the number of comments it receives. Usually, there are certain types of blog posts that get the most comments in a blog. If you’re smart, you will keep creating that type of content in order to keep the level of interest high.Social media shares and clicks. We have mentioned earlier that happy visitors are those who will share your content on their social media accounts. This is another type of social interaction. Let us say, for example, that you tweeted about your content. Your followers on Twitter will check out the content and, if they liked it as well, they will also share it to t heir own followers through the Retweet button. Great content is highly likely to be shared the most, so take note of the type of content that gets these high percentages of interaction. If the rate is low, then you have to work harder to make sure your blog becomes more visible.#7 E-mail and RSS Feed StatisticsBlogs also have RSS feeds and set up email lists, created for the purpose of helping the blog build an online community or following. These metrics will also help you in creating and managing content. Two important metrics that you may want to pay attention to are the Number of Subscribes and Unsubscribes. How many sign-ups did your email list and RSS feed get? How many unsubscribed, and what is their reason for leaving your list?WHICH BLOGGING METRIC TO CHECK?Finally, let us try to answer the questions on most newbie bloggers’ minds: Why do some blogging metrics hold more weight than others? When is a blogging metric more important? At the end of the day, choosing which blog ging metrics are the most relevant and important will depend on what you want to achieve for your blog. While blogging, what do you care about? What is important to you? What do you want to achieve from blogging, or what do you foresee for the future of your blog? How do you define success in blogging? These questions apply whether you are maintaining a personal blog or a business blog. Once you have fully answered these questions, it will be easier for you to decide which among the blogging metrics discussed will be most relevant and important.

Oppression of Women in Chopins Story of an Hour and...

Oppression of Women in Chopins Story of an Hour and Gilmans Yellow Wallpaper The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin and The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman share the same view of the subordinate position of women in the late 1800s. Both stories demonstrate the devastating effects on the mind and body that result from an intelligent person living with and accepting the imposed will of another. This essay will attempt to make their themes apparent by examining a brief summery of their stories and relating them to their personal histories. It will reveal this theme further through analysis of setting, visual and conceptual symbolism, and by exploring the relationships between the characters in each story. In the†¦show more content†¦No doubt, she drew on the strength she gained from witnessing her mother?s self-sufficiency. She also drew on her own experiences of being able to do things for herself (Wyatt). Similarly, Gilman drew on a powerful event in her life. She wrote The Yellow Wallpaper as a way of protesting his methods (Gilman). The main setting of both stories occurs in a room; however, these two rooms have very contrasting atmospheres. In Chopin?s story the light and peaceful environment depicted by the author promotes the concept that Louise is beginning a new and wonderful life after being told of the death of her husband, releasing her from his imposing will. She sinks into a comfortable armchair facing an open window. The trees are aquiver with new life, the smell of rain is in the air, and a woman is singing. On the other hand, The Yellow Wallpaper is set in a room that evokes the impression of imprisonment. There are bars on the windows, a gate at the top of the stairs, rings and things in the walls, and the pattern in the wallpaper reminds her of bars with a woman trapped behind them. Even the bed is nailed to the floor. This setting helps Gilman to impart her theme of oppression of women in marriage. Turning Points of WWII Essays - Military History By Country

Turning Points of WWII It is often thought that there were three specific turning points on the Allies road to victory in the second world war. The points that are considered to have the most significance are the Battle of Midway, the Battle of Stalingrad, and the Battle of El Alamein. Each one of these battles contributed to the rise of the Allies, and the fall of the Axis in their own way. The Battle of Midway is considered the most influential battle in the Pacific theater. It took place between June 4th and June 7th, 1942, near Midway Atoll. American Admirals Chester Nimitz, Frank Jack Fletcher, and Raymond A. Spruance lead a battle against the Japanese fleet, under the Admirals Isoroku Yamamoto, Chuichi Nagumo, and Nobutake Kondo. The battle ended with the Americans victorious, and the Japanese fleet suffering irreversible damages. The victory of this battle is largely due to the American cryptographers, who managed to find the time, date, and place that the attack was to take place. This allowed the Americans to prepare for the attack, and ultimately lead to their victory. The battle of midway is considered the biggest naval victory in history, and marks a turning point in the war. With the Japanese fleet decimated, the Pacific remained under US control, allowing trade to continue for the US, and allowed the US to focus more of their efforts in Europe. The Battle of Stalingrad was considered to be one of the largest and bloodiest battles in history. Nazi Germany and its allies tried to advance on the Eastern front, further into Russia. The Germans began their offensive on August 23rd, 1942, by sending in the 6th army with support from the 4th Panzer division, all the while having support from the Luftwaffe. Despite this apparent tactical advantage, the fighting was eventually reduced to fighting house for house. In the end, the Red Army managed to push the Germans back, out of Stalingrad, and the Germans never regained their footing on the Eastern front. This battle is considered a turning point because it marks the point where the Germans could no longer advance to the East. Putting Germany on the defencive in the East also meant the German army had to redistribute troops, withdrawing them from the West, and sending them East. This made the war on the Western front significantly easier. The Battle of El Alamein, marked the first major victory of the Allies, without US intervention. The battle took place on the 23 of October, 1942, and ended November 3rd of the same year. It took place near the El Alamein railway in Egypt. Lead by Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Law Montgomery, the battle cut the Axis powers, off from the Suez Canal, and the oil fields of the Middle East. During the battle a German oil tanker was also sunk, leading to dire lack of fuel for the German army. This battle was the main turning point in the North African Campaign, and helped lead to the ultimate defeat of the Axis. The Suez Canal was a vital resource for trade and troop movement, making it a strategic point. Cutting off Germany from the oil fields was also a tactical decision, making it harder to fuel the tanks and trucks in use by the Germans at the time. On top of it all, the win was a massive boost to the morale of the Allies. World War Two was a bloody affair, fought by honest men, and lead by strong leaders. There are many battles that made up the second world war, but without the victory at these three points, the path which the war took could have been very different.

The Vertical Fields Essays

The Vertical Fields Essays The Vertical Fields Essay The Vertical Fields Essay Essay Topic: Rear Window The Vertical fields the young boy starts out stating how his family and friends is a strong stand point of this text. The story begins saying, when I was a young boy, after having the traditional punch and cookies and after having sung around the fire, l, with my sister, my mother and my aunts, and Emma Jackson and her son. For me as a reader to read this up front In this story shows me how meaning his family is to him. The plot of the story goes on to show the Importance of being together as a family, especially around the holidays. Traditions come Into the story as they were almost real to me, I felt Like I was at home. The conflict of the story Is told by the mall Character, the young boy. The traditional family gathering, around the Plano to sing Christmas carols, clinching tight to one another, Christmas In a cold and damp Mollusk night. The young boy and his family go onto the midnight service. The main character is the young boy, the narrator explains this young man to be full of life at such an age. Many thoughts of love and care come from the boys mouth as he explains his mother, past and present times. He goes onto say how his mother has always put him first, far above anyone else. Next would be a minor character, his sister. His sister is a bit of the outcast, she seems to be distant to the family as she gets older and older. I think this is going to end up into some bad decisions and will hopefully she will realize how important family can be, what will see come to if there is no one else? Second there is the close family aunt who is there for the boy, his mother, and the sister. Treating them all, even the sister with equal love to them all. She is the one in the family I see being there for everyone at all times in such an important time as Christmas. Characters are not real people in this story, but they are constructed for a purpose, purpose of showing the reader of possibly placement. I put myself and my family into this story; it always seems to be so much more real from a readers eye. In this story the role of the main character performs importance of quality of life and family being together. The role of the setting in this story goes to show how the cold damp Missouri Christmas eve night is a heavy relation to almost any reader, here In Utah I could fit myself or anyone in so perfect. The character in this text definitely tells the story, partly the narrator. The story comes from such a strong point of view from the boys eye, going on telling how the Importance of his mother, the rest of his family, Christmas, and the midnight service, comes to my eyes as it would be straight from the boys mouth. The language of the story Is done very well, In a perfect understandable way, almost from someone I would know myself. The tone of the narrator Is also a strong stand point In the story; It Is a calm tone, which Is good with the Christmas theme. One of the Important Images I see In this story Is Christmas, one of the many reminders of family In this story. One of the sayings I recognized well in this story says My spine arched toward trees Ana streets walking slowly Treating deep I move clown teen sleepwalk, eyes crystallizing streets yards houses and all lives within. My perception forked upward through treetops into the Vertical Fields of space, a moment later, I breathed vapor on the rear window and with my finger, and I signed my name. A powerful ending to such a relating story.

Princess Olga of Kiev Also Known as Saint Olga

Princess Olga of Kiev Also Known as Saint Olga Princess Olga of Kiev, also known as St. Olga, is sometimes credited as founding, with her grandson Vladimir, what has come to be known as Russian Christianity (the Moscow Patriarchate within Eastern Orthodoxy). She was the ruler of Kiev as regent for her son, and she was the grandmother of St. Vladimir, great-grandmother of Saint Boris and Saint Gleb. She lived  about 890 - July 11, 969.  Dates for Olgas birth and marriage are far from certain.  The Primary Chronicle gives her birth date is 879. If her son was born in 942, that date is certainly suspect. She was also known as  St. Olga, Saint Olga, Saint Helen, Helga (Norse), Olga Piekrasa, Olga the Beauty, Elena Temicheva. Her baptismal name was Helen (Helene, Yelena, Elena). Origins Olgas origins are not known with certainty, but she may have come from Pskov. She was probably of Varangian (Scandinavian or Viking) heritage. Olga was married to Prince Igor I of Kiev in about 903. Igor was the son of Rurik, often seen as the founder of Russia as Rus. Igor became the ruler of Kiev, a state which included parts of what is now Russia, the Ukraine, Byelorussia, and Poland. A 944 treaty with the Greeks mentions both baptized and unbaptized Rus. Ruler When Igor was murdered in 945, Princess Olga assumed the regency for her son, Svyatoslav. Olga served as regent until her son was of age in 964.  She was known as a ruthless and effective ruler.  She resisted marrying Prince Mal of the Drevlians, who had been the killers of Igor, killing their emissaries and then burning their city in revenge for her husbands death. She resisted other offers of marriage and defended Kiev from attacks. Religion Olga turned to religion, and specifically, to Christianity.  She traveled to Constantinople in 957, where some sources say that she was baptized by the Patriarch Polyeuctus with Emperor Constantine VII as her godfather. She may have converted to Christianity, including being baptized, before her trip to Constantinople, perhaps in 945. There are no historical records of her baptism, so the controversy wont likely be settled. After Olga returned to Kiev, she was unsuccessful in converting her son or very many others. Bishops appointed by the Holy Roman Emperor Otto were expelled by Svyatoslavs allies, according to several early sources.  Her example, however, may have helped to influence her grandson, Vladimir I, who was the third son of Svyatoslav, and who brought Kiev (Rus) into the official Christian fold. Olga died, probably on July 11, 969. She is considered the first saint of the Russian Orthodox Church. Her relics were lost in the 18th century.

Homosexuality - Nature versus Nurture Research Paper

Homosexuality - Nature versus Nurture - Research Paper Example The truth is in understanding the nature concept; this is a concept that looks at how it is a specific gene combination within the body of a human being that makes him the way he is when he is born. It is these genes at the time of birth of a person that decides his sexual orientation rather than anything else. Therefore, people are born queer or gay rather than becoming gay during the course of their lifetime. In keeping with the statements and views made by the American Psychological Association, it has been noted that â€Å"Research suggests that the homosexual orientation is in place very early in the life cycle, possibly even before birth. It is found in about ten percent of the population, a figure which is surprisingly constant across cultures, irrespective of the different moral values and standards of a particular culture.† Therefore it is the belief of such associations as well as some independent scientists, that it is the gene make of different factors within the body, linked with the hormone secretions of a particular fetus that determines the final orientation of the baby at the time of its birth (or even before, when it is in the womb). On the other hand, the nurture concept talks about an entirely different aspect of being a homosexual. According to this concept, some people become gay during the course of their lifetime. They change their sexual preferences according to the kind of environment they live in, and according to the kind of surroundings and atmosphere they are subject to. For example, it is very likely for a young boy raised by only women (May it be in foster care, or lesbian parents, or simply having more women family members than male) to start behaving like women around him. By the time the boy is an adolescent or even older, all his preferences and tastes develop according to the likes of the women he has grown up with, and thus he begins to give rise to feelings of being effeminate. Therefore, this is how a person is ‘made’ gay rather than being born gay, all because of the influence of his outer surroundings and the external atmosphere.

Ethical Issues in Marketing Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words

Ethical Issues in Marketing - Essay Example However, after its approval for distribution in 1993, Neurontin was aggressively marketed for a large number of off-label usage that were not only unapproved by the FDA, but were also suspected of negative effects such as suicide. Thus, given the important role pharmaceutical companies play in ensuring the well-being of a nation, and the dangerous effect off-label marketing can have on patients; this essay will argue that it is unethical, not to mention illegal, to market drugs for unproven uses on the basis of public health, especially if it is linked to harmful effects such as suicidal behavior. Off-label drug usage is a common practice in the medical community. Defined as the use of medicines for "indication, dosage form, population, or other use parameter not mentioned in the approved labeling," it has been accepted, and even warranted, in some occasions, where it presents the best and sometimes even only course of possible treatment (qtd. in Kaufman 2004, 3). According to Steven Salbu, there are three forms of off-label activities - off-label use, of-label prescription, and off-label marketing (qtd. in Kaufman 2004, 5). While off-label use and prescription are readily accepted, off-label marketing for unapproved usage of drugs is another story. ... The interest of pharmaceutical companies to market off-label usage of their products lies in their need as business entities to get these medicines out in the market as soon as possible without the long and expensive wait that FDA approval requires. One company that took advantage of this leeway to the point of fraudulently marketing their products is Pfizer in its efforts of promoting Neurontin. Neurontin: An Effective Marketing Strategy Neurontin is a legally approved drug indicated as an "adjunctive therapy" for the treatment of partial seizures and epilepsy (Pfizer Inc., 2005, 7). Hence, it is not to be used alone, but only as a secondary treatment "added to other antiepileptic drugs" in the event that the primary drugs are not successful (7). However, it was still aggressively marketed for non-approved uses in treating a wide range of ailments including: bipolar mental disorders, various pain disorders, Lou Gehrig's disease, attention deficit disorders, migraine, drug and alcohol withdrawal seizures, restless leg syndrome, and as a primary treatment for epilepsy (DOJ, 2004). In a whistleblower suit filed by Dr. David Franklin, evidence emerged that the off-label uses previously mentioned were marketed in an illegal and fraudulent manner in what has been known as "the most complete and well documented case of off-label promotion to ever come into public view" (Sweet 2003, 18). According to Franklin, the company implemented a "coordinated national effort to implement an off-label marketing plan" because first, conducting further clinical trials to prove its effectiveness for off-label uses are both too time

Gender roles, identity and domestic violence

Gender roles, identity and domestic violence Gender is the division of people into two categories, men and women. Through interaction with caretakers, socialization in childhood, peer pressure in adolescence, gendered work and family roles, women and men are socially constructed to be different in behaviour, attitudes and emotions (Borgatta. E.F. andMontgomery, R.J.V,2000,p.1057). HOW DO WE LEARN TO ACT AS MALES OR FEMALES? We learn to act as males or females through:(1) gender roles (2) gender identity (3) gender socialization WHAT ARE GENDER ROLES? Gender roles are the roles that society assigns to men and women based on their gender. They especially influence relationships between men and women Womens lifestyles are changing to accommodate new careers, education and family structures, and their role in society is being adjusted accordingly. Education has evolved from providing them with skills necessary for building a family and managing a household into a more broad, extensive education that benefits them in a variety of careers as well as allows them to reach a higher social status as educated members of society. In secondary schools, teachers who provided female students with homemaking skills have switched to more intellectual courses like physics and biology. Bitter feminists around the world were often heard blaming men for the current state of the world, but it should be realized that part of the future of the twenty first century, is determined by how much women corporate with working with men to influence the direction of the nations of the world. There is the link of the relationship between female literacy and independence growth where the level of female literacy is higher and the dependency growth is lower. The twentieth century has been the dawn of a new era for women in the world. They have evolved and broken many barriers in social status and education level. Stemming from backgrounds that were tough and limited where they were maids, field labourers and cooks, they have definitely matured, transitioning to higher and more meaningful roles in society. Their determination and push for social equality has had a major role to play in the development of the world. This development is a major factor responsible for the state of the economies in the world today. Women have graduated from being mainly domestic workers to that of doctors, athletes, and Prime Ministers. They are also specializing in jobs that were once only occupied by men, for example, filling the position of managers, engineers, safety-officers and welders just to name a few. Young girls and women living in these modern times must take advantage of the opportunities provided and use the resources that are available to them. Women must become less dependent on the opposite sex and strive to earn their own in terms of possession and finances etc. Women are venturing out and challenging themselves but some of the men have occupied traditional female roles and at a slower pace, for example, men have become hairstylists, cooks house-keepers, baby-sitters etc. Traditional hierarchical organizations are a thing of the past. In the working environment, the strategies used by women to reach mid-management levels are preventing them from breaking through the glass ceiling. To be successful, both men and women must be able to get excellent results through people-oriented leadership practices. They become self-disciplined, ambitious and are likely to embrace a visible, take charge and influential approach to their roles. Contrary to common stereotype, women are better team players than men and are better at communicating and keeping people informed; are able to put the success of the team first, using influencing skills rather than authority to accomplish objectives. As far as leadership values go, co-workers rate women higher in such skills as hiring the right people for the job, developing and coaching subordinates, and organizing, monitoring and controlling the work of others. They are also better at creating a vision and setting clear direction and high standards of performance. Even though womens decisions are of high quality, they continue to be viewed as less objective, less flexible and lower in emotional control than men. Their more forthright communication style, may appear less polished and diplomatic than mens when dealing with those above them in the hierarchy. In the future, there should be transformational leadership for regional and national renewal for sustainable development using methods by the media, including church women and social welfare organizations and communications programmes on the concept and practice of a new kind of leadership, which is gender issues, and expectations in leadership and improving the capacity of various interests groups in understanding and analysing issues from gender perspective through seminars, workshops and public as well as community meetings. At a regional level, steps of the process of assigning people to do different tasks , must take place as well as setting up a monitoring framework and specific demands should be developed and implemented. From this a new culture will emerge when building positive relationships, command authority and interacting with the world. Everything involving women has changed and will continue to do so over the next decades. In every arena, women have continued to excel and have definitely made a dramatic difference in the world. WHAT IS GENDER IDENTITY? Gender identity refers to the feeling that one is male, female or transgender. Many things contribute to the formation of gender identity, including society, family and factors that are in place before birth. Transgender individuals may have the genitals of one sex but a gender identity, usually associated with the other; example, a person born with a penis who feels female may identify as transgender. According to Paul Connelly (1998), a study showed interesting insights into the relationship between gender and ethnicity. I t was seen that children in schools, though young brought the ways of thinking about masculinity, family and ethnicity into the school arena. I t was found that teachers at these schools were more likely to criticize the behaviour of black boys than other children, and for this the boys were sent outside for deviant behaviour, were singled out and instructed to stand by a door or wall, or even the outside the staff room during playtime. These boys were stigmatized for being black and were accused of being part of race crime and gangs. Their black sisters were perceived as potential disruptive children, likely to be good in sports and also singled out and punished. On the other hand, the South Asian boys were seen as immature rather than seriously deviant. Their behaviour was viewed as silly rather than a threat, and according to the teachers, they were described as passive, conformists and vulnerable. They were not able to express their masculinity as their performance in sports was not good. However, they preferred to focus on school work. The South Asian girls appeared to be more hard-working and obedient than the boys and compared to other girls. The teachers encouraged the girls to focus more on their school work which in turn caused them to be very competitive with other girls in the school. This study shows how gender and ethnicity interact in creating identities among children, also some of the ways this might influence educational achievement in schools as well as showing how these children create the gender identities found in schools. WHAT IS GENDER SOCIALIZATION? Gender Socialization is the process of learning the social expectations and attitudes associated with ones sex. Through this process, sociologists explain why human males and females behave in different ways; they learn different social roles, for example, girls learn to wash and keep a home clean and boys learn to clean the backyard and put out the rubbish. Socialization is the primary means by which human infants begin to acquire the skills necessary to perform as a functioning member of their society, and is the most influential learning process for a child to experience. Though the variation is materialized in the customs and behaviours of societies, the most fundamental expression of culture is to be found at the individual level, which can only occur after the individual has been socialized by the family, extended family and external social networks. This process of both learning and teaching is the way in which cultural and social characteristics are continued and passed down to generations. Sociologists, such as Durkeim, noted the relationship between norms, values and roles during socialization. The following are the different types of socialization: PRIMARY SOCIALIZATION This occurs when a child learns the attitudes, values and behaviour suitable to individuals as members of a particular culture. For example a child witnessing his/her parent giving a derogatory opinion about a minority group, then the child would automatically think that behaviour is acceptable and continue to have this opinion about minority groups. SECONDARY SOCIALIZATION This socialization refers to the process of learning what is acceptable behaviour as a member of a smaller group within the larger society. It is normally associated with teenagers and adults, and involves more minute changes than those which occurred in the former socialization; such as, relocating to a new environment or society. DEVELOPMENTAL SOCIALIZATION With this process learning behaviour is done in a social institution or social skills are developed. ANTICIPATORY SOCIALIZATION Anticipatory socialization refers to the process of socialization where a person rehearses for future positions, occupations and social relationships, for example on the job training (O.J.T). RESOCIALIZATION This refers to the process of discarding former behaviour patterns and accepting new ones as part of a transition on ones life. It occurs throughout the human life cycle and can be an intense experience with an individual having a sharp break with the past, and needing to learn and be exposed to radically different norms and values. An example would be a religious convert internalizing the beliefs and rituals of a new faith. An extreme example is the process by which a transsexual learns to function socially in a dramatically altered gender role. ORGANIZATIONAL SOCIALIZATION This process involves employees learning the knowledge and skills necessary to assume their organizational role. As they are new to the institution, they become socialized by learning about the organization and its history, culture and procedures etc. They also learn about the skills needed to do the job, their work group and formal procedures and informal norms. Socialization functions as a control system in that newcomers learn to internalize and obey organizational values and practices. WHAT IS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE? Domestic violence is a pattern of coercive and controlling behaviours and tactics used by one person over another to gain power and control. This may include verbal abuse, financial, emotional, sexual and physical abuse. Domestic violence occurs in heterosexual as well as same-sex partnerships, and crosses all ethnic, racial and socio-economic lines. Domestic violence has many forms of which there are five: PHYSICAL: which is inflicting or attempting to inflict physical injury. Examples of these are, grabbing, shoving, slapping, hitting, arm-twisting, kicking, punching, stabbing, shooting. Physical abuse can also be used to deny access to resources necessary to maintain health, such as, medical care, hygienic assistance, forcing alcohol and other drug use. SEXUAL: Forcing or attempting to coerce any sexual contact without consent, for example, marital rape, forced sex after beating, attacks on the sexual parts of the body. Another method used is attempting to undermine the victims sexuality, such as treating him/her in a sexually derogatory manner, criticizing sexual performance and desirability and accusations of indidelity. PSYCHOLOGICAL: this involves instilling or attempting to instill fear, example, intimidation, threatening physical harm to self/victim, threatening to harm/kidnap children, mind games, destruction of pets and property. There is also the method of isolating or attempting to isolate the victim from friends, family, school/work, example: withholding access to a phone, constant checking up, undermining victims personal relationships. EMOTIONAL: undermining or attempting to undermine the victims sense of worth by using constant criticism, belittling victims abilities and competency, name-calling, insults, put-downs, silent treatment, and undermining a partners relationship with the children. ECONOMIC: this involves making or attempting to make the victim financially dependent. For example, having and maintaining total control over financial resources including the victims earned income, public assistance if any, withholding money/access to money, requiring accountability and victim giving an account for all money spent. COMPARISON AND CONTRAST OF THE SOCIAL LEARNING THEORY AND THE GENDER SCHEMA THEORY The social learning theory of Bandura specifies the importance of observing and modelling the behaviours, attitudes and emotional reactions of others. Most human behaviour is learned observationally through modelling: from this, one is able to understand how the new behaviours are done. Aggression is one type of behaviour that can be learnt through models. Through a lot of research, it was found that children become more aggressive when they observe aggressive or violent models. Bandura stated that there were conditions that an individual requires before successfully modelling the behaviour of someone else. The person must first pay attention to the model in order to be able to remember the behaviour that was observed, then must be able to repeat what was demonstrated. Finally, motivation is needed to complete modelling a behaviour. Modelling helps to increase the frequency of similar behaviours, for example, a girl noticing her friend excelling in dancing and then she may try to excel in singing as she does not have the skills for dancing. Most of the time persons engage in certain behaviours because they believe they can put them into action successfully. As a result, it can be said that the person has high self-efficacy. Persons who have high self-efficacy tend t o be better and often achieve more at whatever they pursue. In contrast, the gender schema theory (Bem 1981) focuses on the role of cognitive organization in addition to socialization This theory postulates that children learn how their cultures and societies define the role of men and women and then internalize this knowledge as a gender scheme or unchallenged core belief. This scheme is then used to organize subsequent experiences. Childrens perceptions of men and women are thus an interaction between their gender schemas and their experiences. Eventually, they will incorporate their own self-concepts into their gender schema and will assume the traits and behaviours that they deem appropriate for their gender. So, even with children learning from modelling behaviour and also learning how their culture defines the roles of male and female, what is internalized and is actually modelled are very different in terms of positive and negative behaviours and roles. Rationale †Antigone Essay

For our scripted piece we used a scene from Antigone. Originally written by Greek author, Sophocles about 2500 years ago, it was re-written by a French author called Jean Anouilh around the time of WWII. Anouilh’s intensions differed from that of Sophocles due to the difference in time periods; in the later version, Antigone represents the French resistance against the Nazi occupation. As it was written during WWII it took a long time for the Nazis to allow it to go onstage because of what Antigone represented. The reason they let it be performed was down to the character Creon, the king of Thebes. In the scene between him and Antigone, the Nazis thought the dialogue represented a point of view that was for a dictatorial society. Antigone tells the story of a girl, whose brothers fought over the throne, both brothers met their end, introducing a theme of death due to rivalry and jealousy. Eteocles, the brother who had the throne at the time, was given a proper burial, whereas Polynices, who was seen as the enemy, was left outside and refused a burial. Everyone in the city of Thebes was told by the new king, Creon, that anyone who attempted to bury Polynices would be put to death, creating the theme of loyalty. Antigone is adamant that Polynices should be given a burial and takes matters into her own hands, she sneaks out of the palace in the middle of the night and covers Polynices’ body over with dirt. Polynices is then uncovered by the Guard. Antigone finds out and again, attempts to cover over Polynices. This time she is discovered by the Guard and is taken to Creon. As Antigone is the former king’s daughter, Creon is hesitant when punishing her, and offers a way out. But Antigone is not ashamed of what she has done and is determined to be punished for her crime. At the end of the play Antigone is put in cave by the Guard and left there to die. We chose this play as it contains many themes, such as love, pride, anger, and loyalty. Also I liked the history behind the play, the story that wasn’t included within the script. The life of Oedipus, Antigone’s father, the prophecy that he heard and how he married his mother and as a result had four children. I liked it because it was unusual, complex and difficult to fully understand. One moral I think Antigone portrays quite well is that you should always stand up for what you believe in and what you think is right. It shows this through Antigone’s character and the fact that she is so headstrong and certain of what she wants. Also an issue that is portrayed throughout the play is that love is a very strong emotion and can overcome many situations, this is shown by the relationships between Antigone and her sister Ismeme, Antigone and her nurse and Antigone and her fiance Haemon. My chosen scene included Antigone and Nurse, who was trying to find out where Antigone had been in the night. It was the opening scene of the play and was very powerful as it introduced the character of Antigone and the relationship she has with Nurse. I played Nurse and my partner, Frances, played Antigone. I chose to play Nurse because she tries many different ways to get Antigone to tell her where she has been. She tries to make Antigone feel guilty, by saying â€Å"You half kill yourself to bring them up, and they’re all the same. † She also gets angry with Antigone, this is evident when she says â€Å"do you know what I ought to do? I ought to give you a good spanking, just like when you were a little girl. † Another tactic she employs is that of trying to make Antigone feel sympathetic towards her by saying â€Å"What would your mother say if she were here now? You silly old fool, she’d say. So you couldn’t keep my little girl virtuous for me? † I knew that these tactics would enable me to change the tone of my voice throughout the performance and use a variety of space. By playing Nurse I intended to portray the relationship that Antigone and Nurse possessed. I also wanted to improve on my interaction as an actor and by playing this part it enabled me to build on what I was already capable of. When I first read the scene I imagined the two characters in a grand bedroom that had a very old fashioned interior, such as what one would expect to see in a stately home. A room that was quite cluttered with elaborate ornaments and decorative pieces. Obviously this would be hard to create on a small stage and also it would restrict the amount of space that was available for moving in. Devised-Behind the Face Our devised piece was based on many themes taken from Antigone, such as loyalty, cruelty and pride but the main theme was anger. I chose to base it upon anger because there are many different ways to portray it and there are lots of different ways of dealing with it. This gave me a wide range of options to choose from when devising the piece. I researched anger and it’s causes and came up with many different results, for instance: There are three different types of anger: Rage – Rage is the expression of violent, uncontrolled anger. Rage is an outward expression of anger and can result in a visible, often destructive, explosion. Resentment – Resentment is the feeling of anger directed towards a person or object which is suppressed and kept inside. It is a feeling which smoulders and feels uncomfortable, and can possibly create more physiological and psychological damage. Indignation – Indignation is regarded as an appropriate, controlled, positive type of anger. When writing my devised piece I wanted to put across that you should let out your anger and stand up for what you think is right so I decided on a story line that contained a young girl (Harriett) who knew what she wanted but was too scared to stand up for herself. This resulted in her becoming angry internally, but she was unable to let go of her anger and express herself. So I created another character that only she could hear. This character was the internal anger that Harriett was feeling, and tried to make her see that she had to let go of her anger and stand up for herself rather than being pushed around by everyone else because she was an easy target. I chose to play an emotion instead of a person because I wanted to portray the differences between each aspect of the emotion. I wanted to create three sections on the stage so we weren’t just using a small part of it, however still allowing for use of most of the space available. I also wanted to create a strange atmosphere, one that makes the audience feel uncomfortable, so they could relate to Harriett’s feelings. I wanted the tempo to vary too, as I wanted Harriett’s character to be quiet and subdued, and the character that played her anger to be loud, intimidating and patronising. I also wanted the rhythms to alternate to make the piece more interesting for the audience.

We Must Regulate the Advertising of Unhealthy Fast Food Essay

Think back to last year’s Super Bowl. What do we really remember about the event? One might say the game-winning drive, the players excitement, but what most of us remember was the commercials. The hilarious Old Spice commericals, the creative, funny, car commercials, and most importantly the dozens of commercials about food. Ranging from Campbell’s Soup, to Snickers, to Coca Cola, these commercials seem to be shown just for our entertainment; however, although we might not realize it, they do influence our decision making down the road. It no longer amazes people when they hear about how companies pay millions of dollars for a few minutes of airtime on events such as the Super Bowl. Over that past several years, research is starting to†¦show more content†¦Within these ninety-eight hours of recorded program times, a total of 1344 advertisements were found. Out of these 1344 advertisements, thirty-three percent, around four and a half advertisementsperhour, wer e for food. The shocking thing about these commercials however, was the fact that around seventy-nine percent of these food commercials were for candy, and fast food. Foods were classified as â€Å"healthy† if they met Singapore’s Healthier Choice Symbol, but the food being advertised was clearly not. The study from Singapore is just one specific example of how much pressure the media is placing on children, and what they consume, and how unbeneficial this pressure is. Another study conducted by Kristen Harrison and Amy L. Marske also shows the correlation between food advertising, how it is geared towards children, and the nutritional benefits, or lack thereof, of the foods being advertised. These researchers focused on just the nutritional content of the foods being advertised during hours of peak child viewers. They then coded the foods being advertised based on what type of food it was, such as breakfast, lunch, dinner, or snack food. They found that fast food and sweets comprised eighty-three percent of all the food advertisement in hoursofpeak child viewers.
